Exsil Pure 120 Nitrile

Cyanopropyl-Modified Silica for Dual-Mode Reversed-Phase and Normal-Phase HPLC

Exsil Pure 120 Nitrile is a cyanopropyl-modified silica-based HPLC stationary phase based on ultra-high purity Exsil Pure 120 silica with a nominal pore size of 120 Å. The nitrile (CN) bonded ligand provides a moderately polar surface, enabling dual-mode chromatographic behavior that combines characteristics of reversed-phase and normal-phase HPLC.

The 120 Å pore structure improves mass transfer and robustness, delivering stable retention behavior and excellent peak shape across a wide range of mobile phase compositions. Compared to nonpolar reversed-phase materials, Exsil Pure 120 Nitrile offers enhanced selectivity through dipole–dipole interactions, making it particularly useful for fine-tuning separations of polar to moderately nonpolar small molecules.

Controlled silica synthesis, very low metal content, and stable cyanopropyl bonding ensure reproducible retention, consistent selectivity, and reliable long-term performance in routine analysis and method development, including LC–MS-compatible workflows.

Exsil Pure 120 Nitrile combines versatile dual-mode selectivity with high-purity silica and robust chromatographic performance, making it a flexible solution for small-molecule HPLC separations requiring controlled polarity and alternative selectivity.
