Exsil Pure 120 PFP (2) is an alternative pentafluorophenyl-modified silica-based HPLC stationary phase based on ultra-high purity Exsil Pure 120 silica with a nominal pore size of 120 Å. Compared to the standard PFP variant, the PFP (2) surface chemistry is optimized to provide a modified balance of electronic and hydrophobic interactions, resulting in differentiated selectivity for structurally similar compounds.
The pentafluorophenyl ligand enables multiple interaction mechanisms, including π–π interactions, dipole–dipole effects, and hydrogen bonding, while the alternative bonding density and surface architecture of the PFP (2) version allow fine-tuning of retention and selectivity. This makes Exsil Pure 120 PFP (2) particularly useful when additional selectivity is required beyond conventional PFP or C18 phases.
The 120 Å pore structure improves mass transfer and robustness, delivering stable retention behavior, excellent peak shape, and reproducible chromatographic performance in demanding analytical workflows.
Exsil Pure 120 PFP (2) extends the selectivity range of pentafluorophenyl phases, providing an effective alternative when standard PFP or alkyl reversed-phase materials do not deliver sufficient resolution.
