Adsorbosphere PAC is a polar-embedded reversed-phase column designed to combine hydrophobic retention with enhanced interaction for polar analytes. The phase features an alkyl chain modified with a polar functional group embedded near the silica surface, allowing improved selectivity and reduced silanol interaction – especially for basic or polar compounds.
Unlike traditional C18 phases, Adsorbosphere PAC remains stable in highly aqueous conditions (including 100% water) and enables reproducible separations for a broad range of compound classes. It is especially useful in bioanalytical, pharmaceutical, and food applications where mixed-mode selectivity is beneficial.
Adsorbosphere PAC delivers powerful reversed-phase performance with the added benefit of polar interaction — ideal for modern HPLC workflows with complex selectivity requirements.
Polar-embedded alkyl bonding (PAC = Polar-Embedded Alkyl Chain)
High aqueous compatibility – no phase collapse in 100% water
Balanced retention of hydrophobic and polar compounds
Improved peak shape for basic analytes due to reduced silanol activity
High-purity, fully porous silica for excellent reproducibility
Available in 3 µm, 5 µm and 10 µm particle sizes
Basic pharmaceutical compounds and polar drug candidates
Bioanalytical separations of metabolites and small molecules
Food components like organic acids, sweeteners, and additives
Separation of hydrophilic-hydrophobic compound mixtures
Method development requiring alternative selectivity
