Platinum C8-EPS is a silica-based HPLC stationary phase with an octyl bonded surface on 100 Å silica, developed for reversed-phase separations that require a balance between hydrophobic retention and polar selectivity. The Extended Polar Selectivity (EPS) bonding design introduces controlled polar interaction sites while maintaining moderate hydrophobic retention, resulting in enhanced selectivity for analytes with mixed polar and nonpolar character.
Unlike fully endcapped C8 phases, Platinum C8-EPS is not endcapped, leaving defined residual silanol activity on the silica surface. This provides additional retention mechanisms for polar compounds and complementary selectivity to standard C18 materials. The medium-chain C8 modification allows faster elution and optimized resolution, making this phase particularly suitable for method development, routine pharmaceutical analysis, and complex mixture separations. Built on high-purity, mechanically stable silica, Platinum C8-EPS ensures excellent reproducibility, robustness, and long column lifetime under both isocratic and gradient conditions.
Platinum C8-EPS offers balanced hydrophobic and polar retention – the reliable choice for reproducible and versatile reversed-phase separations with extended polar selectivity.
