The extended alkyl chain offers strong hydrophobic retention and enhanced shape selectivity — ideal for separating structurally similar, planar, or sterically constrained molecules. It is especially effective for separating geometric isomers, carotenoids, fat-soluble vitamins, and other lipophilic analytes that are insufficiently resolved by conventional C18 columns.
