The short alkyl chain offers lower hydrophobic retention compared to C18 or C8 phases, making it particularly suitable for large, hydrophobic biomolecules that elute too slowly or tail on longer-chain columns. Its wide-pore structure ensures efficient interaction with proteins, peptides, and other high-molecular-weight analytes, while maintaining excellent peak shape and reproducibility in acidic to neutral conditions.
