Exsil 100 Nitrile is a cyanopropyl-modified silica-based HPLC stationary phase based on high-purity Exsil 100 silica with a nominal pore size of 100 Å. The nitrile (CN) bonded ligand provides a moderately polar surface that enables dual-mode operation, combining characteristics of both reversed-phase and normal-phase chromatography.
Due to its intermediate polarity, Exsil 100 Nitrile allows fine tuning of retention and selectivity for compounds that are insufficiently retained on nonpolar reversed-phase columns or overly retained on strongly polar normal-phase materials. The phase is particularly useful for improving selectivity through dipole–dipole interactions while maintaining good peak shape and reproducible retention behavior.
